Hooray!! After almost several months of waiting, 2NE1 is finally releasing their 2nd mini album this coming July 28.
According to the blog of YG, the mini album will be entitled "Ugly". And I am very excited about it. For the rest of the blog entry, here it is!!
2NE1’s 2nd EP will be released on July 28th.
Total 6 songs including 4 of previously released singles and 2 of new songs will be contained in this EP and one of the 2 new tracks, “Hate You” will be released in advance on July 21st.

The new track, “Hate You” coming up on 21st
Actually “Hate You”, the new single that will be released on July 21st has an interesting story behind it.
This song was originally planned to be released last September in 2NE1’s 1st official album, but due to the song’s inappropriate title and lyrics, we decided to hold off.
The reason is, the original title for “Hate You” was actually F*** You.
We tried really hard to change the title and lyrics since one of 2NE1’s member, Minzy was still a minor and we didn’t want to affect the teenage fans in negative way. However, there were no substitute words at that time therefore we decided to postpone the release of the track.
These kinds of situations happens from time to time when working in this field, but in this particular case, 2NE1 loved this track and with their never-ending requests to release the track, we have changed the song’s title to “Hate You” and included it in this EP.
The MV of “Hate You” was produced as animation by pop graphic artist, Mari Kim and the teaser for the MV is scheduled to be released on Monday July 18th at 12AM (KST), and the full MV will be released on July 21st at 12 AM (KST) with the track itself.
About the title track, “Ugly”
The strong guitar riff carries this song’s mood throughout the entire song.
With a mix of Rock and Elec, it is an upbeat track and in honest and interesting lyrics, they are talking about their appearances which are not pretty.
The track is the perfect addictive summer song which has refreshing chorus melody in CL’s vocal. With consideration that K-Pop is gaining international fans all over the world, we’ve decided to sing the chorus in English.
The MV for “Ugly” which we have invested most was directed by Director Han Sa Min, and it is scheduled to be released on the July, 28th at 12 AM (KST) along with the album.
2NE1 & the pop graphic artist, Mari Kim
We wanted to do something unique with the new EP jacket so we met the pop graphic artist, “Mari Kim” who we’ve liked. After frequent meetings with her, Mari Kim managed not only 2NE1’s EP jacket design, but also directed the MV for “Hate You”.
Although she may be a new face in Korea, she is no stranger to famous pop-artists overseas.
To name just a few projects, Mari Kim has taken part in designing Andrew Warhola’s ‘Velvet Underground‘ album, as well as Julian Opie’s 10-year anniversary album, ‘Blur‘.
Also she’s collaborated with Louis Vuitton to create their ‘Murakami’ line of accessories, and also worked with Kanye West on his ‘Graduation‘ album.
From the April, we have begun our introduction of 2NE1’s new tracks starting with Park Bom’s “Don’t Cry” and I would like to end by letting you know this EP will not be the last of it.
