Glee's Charice and J-pop star Mai Fukui to sing Final Fantasy XIII-2 theme song

TOKYO: Japanese game developer Square Enix announced during the recent Tokyo Game Show that teenage Philippine singer, Glee's Charice Pempengco, and Japanese singer Mai Fukui, will sing the main theme song for their widely anticipated game Final Fantasy XIII-2, said Japanese media.

Square Enix revealed that Pempengco will sing the game's theme song "New World" in international versions of the game, while Fukui will sing a variation of "New World" in versions of the game designed for sale in Japan and parts of Asia.

"I want to thank everybody for giving me the chance to be part of it," said 19-year-old Pempengco of getting the chance to work on the blockbuster game.

Square Enix also confirmed that Final Fantasy XIII-2 will go on sale in Japan on December 15. The game will be released next year in America and Europe on January 1 and February 13 respectively.

The game's Japanese release will be accompanied by a six-part web novella titled the "Final Fantasy XIII Lost Report" which will be published on the game's Japanese website starting this month.
