Celebrities who have contributed include Bae Yong Joon and Kim Hyun Joong.
Korean entertainers are banding together to provide help for victims of the recent Japan quake and tsunami disaster.
Hallyu star Song Seung-heon had donated KRW$200 million (approx. S$220,000) immediately after he learnt of the disaster.
Kim Hyun Joong of Korean boy band SS501 had also donated KRW$100 million (approx. S$110,000) through his Japanese management company.
"It's heartbreaking news. I hope they can resume their lives as soon as possible. I hope the money can help people who need it, although it's not much," Hyun Joong said.
A rep from the singer's Japanese agency added, "Hyun Joong wanted us to use the money to buy emergency relief supplies. We followed his instructions and sent out the supplies to those who needed it."
Actor Ryu Si Won expressed that he would be heading to Sendai, which was one of the worst hit areas, to personally help in the rebuilding of the city. YG Entertainment, the company which boy band Big Bang belongs to, have also donated KRW$500 million (approx. S$550,000).
Actress Choi Ji-woo expressed on her personal blog that she was devastated to hear the news and expressed deep condolences to the victims of the disaster. Yesterday, the actress donated KRW$200 million (approx. S$220,000) to help the unfortunate.
"[I] heard about the earthquake in Japan. It is believed that Tokyo is hit hard. I hope everyone's fine. I'll be praying for Japan," singer BoA wrote online.
