South Korean girl group KARA has decided to donate all CD and digital distribution sales of their new single ‘‘Jet Coaster Love’’ to quake-hit areas in Japan.
The digital distribution of their third single began Wednesday, while the CD release in Japan has been postponed from the initially scheduled March 23 to an undecided date so as not to adversely affect the delivery of aid materials to the areas.
All five members of the group were in Japan for a TV drama shoot when the devastating earthquake and tsunami hit northeastern and eastern Japan on Friday.
‘‘Although these people are experiencing such a hard time, I firmly believe they have tremendous courage to overcome the challenge,’’ said member Han Seung Yeon on the group’s official website. She also said the magnitude 9.0 quake was the first time for her to experience a temblor.
Koo Ha Ra, another member, said, ‘‘I hope to share the pain of the Japanese people’’ with citing the phrase that friendship doubles joy and divides grief.
