The Black & White lead actor admitted—for the first time—that his friendship with Vic Chou took a turn for the worse after he nabbed the Best Actor award over the widely-tipped hot faveVicDuring an interview, Vic's housemate Xiu Jie Kai revealed that Mark Chao and Vic Chou's relationship nosedived after Mark won the 2009 Best Actor award at the Golden Bell Awards for his role in Taiwanese drama series, Black & White. It is known that the both of them did not contact each other since then.
The duo's once-brotherly friendship is now a thing of the past as neither Mark nor Vic tried to resolve the unspoken happiness over the award.
Alongside with Jie Kai, Mark was also present at the Here Comes Kang Xi interview. Jie Kai revealed that ever since Mark was announced the winner, he "knew that something would happen" to Vic. He was told by Vic that amongst all the nominations he bagged after entering showbiz, this [Best Actor nomination at the Golden Bell Awards in 2009] was the only time that he thought he would win.When Jie Kai returned home after the event, the atmosphere in the house was awkward, and Vic locked himself in the room.
"[Vic] felt sad as he was not awarded, and he was not sure how to face Mark in person anymore," said Jie Kai.Mark then admitted that when he won the award, he had hesitations over expressing his happiness and even thought of going to Vic's house to look for him, but did not do so in the end.
Both of them have not been in contact since then, while Jie Kai is said to be trapped in between his buddies, he still tries to convey and update the estranged pair on each other's current situation.
In response to this revelation, Vic's manager said, "The situation is not as bad. Mark did text Vic, but Vic is the one who prefers to stay at home when he is not working, and would not reply to text messages from others. Just like F4, although all of them have their own work now and seldom contact each other, still, there are chances they might collaborate in the future!"
