Taiwanese singer Jam Hsiao recently treated his parents to a five-day holiday in Bali where the family of three stayed in a private villa. The trip reportedly cost NT$580,000 (approximately S$24,300) in total, and the filial son is said to have specially asked a friend who is familiar with the tourist hotspot to settle the travel arrangements.
It was also reported that Jam and his manager, who are VIP customers of the airline, insisted on switching seats with his parents after failing to upgrade his family’s airplane seats to Business class due to the fully booked flights.
“Money can be earned. I just want my folks to be happy,” said the singer who is currently his family’s sole breadwinner.
During previous interviews, Jam admitted that he was once a rebellious ‘problem child’ who raised his voice at his mum, smoked and got into fights frequently. Nevertheless, the angsty teenager who had to go through counselling back then, learned to communicate with his parents after he entered the industry in 2007.
A changed man now, he often invites his parents to his overseas concerts and even sponsored the NT$5 million (close to S$210,000) renovation cost for their apartment.
