S.H.E.

Just as I promised all of you, we will have a new page here called "Star of the Week" and to start this off is none other than the great S.H.E.

Discography

S.H.E. is a girl group from Taiwan consisting of Selina, Hebe and Ella. Their group name was derived from the member's first letter name. They started as contestants in The Universal Talent and Beauty Girl Contest until Selina was held as the winner and the other 2 as finalists.

HIM, their record company, decided to put the three as a group and so S.H.E. was born. HIM also suggested that the three should be in a dormitory so they would know each other very well. On September 11, 2001, S.H.E. released their first album "Girl's Dormitory" in memory of their living in a dormitory. The released of this album became a huge success that the group released 13 albums to date including 1 Digital Album.

Every year, S.H.E. wins different awards that is added to their collection. As of now, S.H.E. has already won 138 awards and was nominated 204+ times. For the complete list of awards, you can go to wikipedia.org.

The Members

Selina

Selina is the soprano member of the group. After the group was made, Selina has always been active in their singing career. Aside from singing, the two other members decided to go on acting. As for Selina, she never did any drama except for "Reaching the Stars and the Rose" that featured the group, due to the fact that she wants to continue her studies. On 2004, she eventually graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree, majoring in Civic Education and Leadership from the National Taiwan Normal University. She also released her first book, "Selina Loves Beading" last 2006.

Hebe

Hebe is the actress one in the group. A soprano too, Hebe plays piano, flute and drums. In fact, in their song "What Happened to us? (Wo Men Ze Men Le), Hebe played the piano solo in the intro. As for her acting skills, Hebe had the most number of drama in the group followed by Ella appearing in 8 dramas. Her most successful drama so far is "Bull Fighting" with her as the female lead character and "Mike He" as the male lead character. Also, she has the most number of duets in the group including "Only Have Feelings For You" (只對你有感覺 Zhi Dui Ni You Gan Jue) with Fahrenheit. The song was initially recorded for the Tokyo Juliet OST (東方茱麗葉 Dong Fang Zhu Li Ye), but has found a place in Fahrenheit's first album, which is self-titled.

Ella

Ella is the only alto member of the group. And I must say that she is the most popular one. This is due to her drama "Hana Kimi" (Hanazakari No Kimitachi Eh) which also features Wu Zhun. The chemistry between the two became in a great hit that made Ella popular. In 2007, Chen was voted by online fans as Taiwan's most down-to-earth (unpretentious) artist. Out of the three members of S.H.E, Ella is the most outspoken. Since the release of S.H.E's first album in 2001, Ella has usually been the one to answer reporters' questions. As the tomboy of S.H.E, Ella is frequently the subject of jokes targeting her gender and sexual orientation, but she usually takes the jabs in stride. Netizens even labelled her one of China's Four Main Tomboys of the past century. Her unusually deep voice earned her a starring role as the voice of Arthur in the Mandarin version of Arthur and the Minimoys. As of now, she has a drama entitled "Down With Love" with Jerry Yan that is currently aired in Taiwan.
